Once, at a market we bought a stubborn donkey,

Its voice was so loud, shrill, and honky.

When it did not want to carry a load,

It stood motionless on a road,

No one could push forward that obstinate donkey.

Once (однажды), there was (жил- был) an old man (старина) Johnny Grundy,

He (он) began (начинал) to lament (причитать):

Once, there was an old boy Johnny Grundy,

At noon, he woke up every Monday.

He began to lament:

– Again overslept my Weekend.

He rushed from his house in different socks.

On his way he stumbled and his head he cocked,

Poor oldman, Johnny Grundy!

DINA (ДИНА) – BALERINA (БАЛЕРИНА)

Once (однажды) a big (большая) elephant (слониха) Dina (Дина)

Became (стала) ballerina (балериной),

One day (однажды), she (она) took to the stage (вышлана сцену),

And (и) she (она) started (начала) her (свой) dancing (танец) with (со) passion (страстью), with (с) rage (азартом).

Jumping (прыгая), she (она) broke (сломала) two (две) ballet (балетные) scenes (сцены),

Thrice (трижды) trampled (затоптала) a few (несколько) ballerinas (балерин).

The whole (всей) troupe (труппой) kicked her off (выпроваживала ее со) the stage (сцены).

DINA – BALERINA

Once a big elephant Dina

Became ballerina,

One day, she took to the stage,

And she started her dancing with passion, with rage.

Jumping), she broke two ballet scenes,

Thrice trampled a few ballerinas.

The whole troupe kicked her off the stage.

Идет мишка Кривая Лапа по лесу. Голодный. Чем бы поживиться ищет. Вдруг, видит, летит ему навстречу пчелка Жужа.

– Здравствуй, мишка Кривая Лапа!

– И тебе здравствовать, пчелка Жужа! А куда это ты летишь?

– Лечу я на дальний луг. Там, клевер красный, сладкий, зацвел.

– А можно, я с тобой пойду, сладкого клевера поем?

– Конечно, пошли, луг большой и клевера на всех хватит.

Полетела пчелка Жужа вперед, а медведь Кривая Лапа следом ковыляет.

Пришли они на луг. А там, клевера видимо-невидимо.

Стала пчелка перелетать с цветка на цветок, сладкий нектар собирать. Мишка, же, ухватил лапой несколько цветков, пожевал, да и выплюнул. Разве, этим можно насытиться?

А, Жужа, уже, обратно засобиралась с полными ведерками цветочного нектара.

– Дай мне одно ведерко. Попробовать хочу. – Просит Кривая Лапа.

– Нет, миша, – говорит ему пчелка, – не могу я дать тебе этот нектар! Эти ведерки я должна отнести в улей. Из нектара мы сделаем сладкий, душистый, мед и накормим наших малышей.

– А если, я отдам нектар тебе, то наши дети останутся голодными.

– А, – разозлился тут медведь, – тогда, я приду, и весь мед у вас отберу! Вон, я, какой большой и сильный. А вы – крошечные. Что вы мне сделать сможете?

Ничего не сказала пчелка Жужа, Лишь, зажужжала сердито и к себе в улей полетела.

Весь день пчелка Жужа и ее подруги летали, собирали цветочный нектар. Полные соты меда получились.

А тут, и медведь заявился усталый голодный и злой.

– Отдавайте пчелы мой мед! – Ревет Косая Лапа.

Удивились пчелы. – Разве, это твой мед? Разве, ты на луг летал? Разве, ты нектар с цветов собирал? Разве, ты из этого нектара мед делал?

– Нет, медведь, не отдадим мы, тебе, мед!

– Ах, не отдадите?! – Ревет Косая Лапа.– Ну, тогда я его у вас отберу. И ульи ваши все переверну, разрушу.

И, медведь поковылял прямо к пчелиным ульям.

Зажужжали пчелы рассерженно. Стали в рой собираться. А потом, как набросятся на медведя! И давай его со всех сторон жалить.

Крутился мишка, вертелся, пытался от пчел отбиваться. Лапами когтистыми махал, да все бесполезно. Ни одной пчелы не сумел зацепить. А у самого медведя, уже, и нос весь распух и глаза заплыли, только узкие щелочки остались. А все, никак к улью подобраться не может.

Наконец, не выдержал Косая Лапа пчелиных укусов. Повернулся, и, что есть духу, стал улепетывать прочь от улья. Только, подошвы медвежьих лап сверкают.

А пчелы летят следом и жалят мишку в эти, самые, подошвы.

А потом, пчелки вернулись обратно домой, в улей.

Надо маленьких пчелок накормить сладким медом, спать уложить в кроватки и спеть им колыбельную.

А медведю поделом! На чужой каравай рот не разевай!

HOW BEES PUNISHED AN EVIL AND GREEDY BEAR
